SHORT CREEK BAPTTIST CHURCH
Cemetery Operating Rules, Guidelines and Regulations
The following general rules and regulations for the Cemetery were adopted for the SHORT CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH (hereafter SCBC) during regular monthly Business Meeting on August 4, 2014.
The Cemetery property is considered sacred ground devoted to the burial of our loved ones. A respectful atmosphere must be maintained at all times and all members and visitors are requested to assist us in maintaining the beauty and tranquility of the cemetery. The Cemetery is a non-smoking environment. We request that you do not smoke while visiting our cemetery.
The purpose of the following general rules and regulations for the Cemetery are to insure that our current and future Church members will have a burial place and that our Cemetery will be properly maintained.
1. The Cemetery is deeded in the name of SCBC; therefore, the church regulates its use, maintenance and oversees all current and future needs and operations of the Cemetery. The cemetery is an entity of SCBC for the purpose of IRS 503 (C) regulations and for liability insurance purchases.
2. The Church elects a Cemetery Committee and a Cemetery Fund Treasurer each year and they have authority as overseers and caretakers of the Cemetery.
3. The Cemetery maintains bank accounts separate from the Church General Fund.
4. The Church designates the Homecoming offering each year for the operation and maintenance of the Cemetery. Other contributions are accepted throughout the year.
5. The Church recognizes the Cemetery was established for use of our church members.
6. We realize that a community has its limits and beyond these boundaries are people who for this purpose are outsiders. Burial plots and gravesites provided to outsiders is unfair to our church members.
7. Several families have established a Certificate of Deposit in the name of the Cemetery and the interest earned goes to maintain our cemetery.
